Transportation Department Awards $8.75 Million to 15 Small Shipyards

The grants will expand facilities, increase modernization, and expand local hiring.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) released $8.75 million to 15 small shipyards this month, under the Maritime Administration’s Small Shipyard Grant Program. This investment will support the modernization of shipyard facilities, increase productivity, and employ more workers to strengthen competition in the coastal industry.

“Small shipyards are integral to the strength of America’s supply chains and the maritime industry,” said Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. “With the grants announced today, The Biden-Harris Administration is delivering funding that will create jobs in cities and towns across the country, strengthen our commercial fleet, and add power to our national economy.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Buttigieg as he offers federal support to small transportation businesses.
  • For U.S. transportation officials as they assess the needed improvements in shipyards.
  • For the president’s administration as they grant resources in the effort to strengthen the supply chain and the economy.
